Browns select Shedeur in the 5th round.

The fall of Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft was by far the most talked-about topic on social media in the sports world over the weekend. Sanders, the standout quarterback from the University of Colorado and son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, experienced a surprising drop in the 2025 NFL Draft. Once projected as a top-five pick, Sanders was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round with the 144th overall pick, making him the sixth quarterback chosen in the draft.

Browns crowded QB Room

The Cleveland Browns QB room coming into the 2025 NFL season is packed to say the least. Sanders will be joining fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who the Browns drafted before Sanders, as well as Kenny Pickett, Deshaun Watson (who is injured,) and presumed starter 40-year-old Joe Flacco. There is sure to be a QB competition, as it is virtually impossible to have 5 quarterbacks on your team with a 53-man roster. While Shedeur did fall in the draft, he has a major opportunity to climb the Cleveland Browns depth chart at quarterback, if he performs in training camp and in the preseason.

Shedeur’s Madden Rating

Shedeur will undoubtedly be one of the most-used players in Madden 26, due to his popularity from his days at Colorado and Jackson State. Shedeur was one of the highest-rated quarterbacks in College Football 25, at an impressive 93 overall, however, his Madden rating is expected to be much lower than this at launch. For rookies, what round and pick you get selected in the NFL Draft has a massive impact on your rating. While Shedeur may be an exception. We’ll use Spencer Rattler, who got selected with the 150th pick in last year's draft as an example, as he was the closest quarterback selected to Shedeur’s pick. Rattler is currently a 69 overall in Madden 25, and while Shedeur’s rating will undoubtedly rise if he performs, it’s a pretty safe assumption that his overall will be somewhere in the low 70s on day 1 of Madden 26.
