Madden 26 may have its release date

While we do not know much about Madden 26 yet, including even the cover athlete, we may have a release date thanks to a leaker. Leaked by “billbil-kun,” of Dealabs, Madden 26 is expected to release on August 14th. Now, it is important to note that this leak has not been verified and it has even gained enough momentum that it wouldn’t be surprising if EA even changed its release date, given how far out it still is, which I personally think is very likely in this case. 

Madden 25: 6th best selling game of 2024

If 2024 is any indication, Madden is still one of the highest selling video games in the world. It sold the 6th most copies of any video game in 2024, with its college counterpart EA Sports College Football 25, taking the 2nd spot in 2024. EA had another sports game on the list as well, with EA Sports FC 25 taking the 8th spot. EA is still dominating the sports gaming landscape and video game landscape as well, and Madden 26 should easily be a top 10 video game of this year!

Possible Cover Athletes

After 49ers superstar running back Christian Mccaffery graced the cover of Madden 25, it is a safe bet that this year's cover athlete will once again be a quarterback, as it was in Madden 24 with Josh Allen. While there’s been some buzz for players such as Houston Texans quarterback C.J Stroud, the presumptive favorite to be the Madden 26 cover athlete is Super Bowl Champion quarterback Jalen Hurts. It would cap off an amazing season for Hurts, and while it could be his teammate Saquon Barkley, it would mark the first time in Madden history that a running back was on the cover of Madden in back to back years.
